Why we do
what we do

and how we got here

I (Joe) grew up on job sites.

My dad was a plumber and a handyman — the kind of guy who could fix anything, and genuinely loved helping people. I spent my childhood hauling tools, learning the trades, and watching him bring homes back to life.

And while we made a lot of people happy, I’ll never forget the few clients who weren’t.

I remember being confused — how could someone be upset when the work was solid, the craftsmanship was good, and we’d done our best? The answer hit me hard: unmet expectations. Often unspoken. Sometimes unrealistic. But always powerful enough to wreck a good experience.

That stuck with me.

So while I fell in love with the work itself — the smell of sawdust, the satisfaction of a finished space — I became obsessed with something else: solving the client experience.

The Problem With the Construction Industry

Let’s be honest: this industry doesn’t have the best reputation.

Homeowners and business owners have been burned by:

  • Missed deadlines
  • Over-budget projects
  • Contractors disappearing
  • Poor communication
  • Sloppy work
  • Even lawsuits and fraud

And while I’ve seen firsthand how much heart many contractors have, I also saw how quickly things can spiral without a clear process.

The Turning Point

So I took a different path.

Instead of just building walls and cabinets, I started building systems.

Checklist after checklist. Process after process.

Every time we ran into a problem, I worked backward and fixed the root cause.

Not just for that job — but for every future job.

Over time, we didn’t just “get better” — we became elite.

Today, Sallé Custom Contracting is one of the most trusted renovation teams in the Upstate. We don’t chase volume. We don’t rush jobs. And we never leave people in the dark.

Our Why

We’re here to change the renovation experience — one project at a time.

To give people confidence in the process.

To build trust, not just kitchens.

To create homes and businesses that feel like they were crafted — not just constructed.

If you’ve worked with a contractor before and had a rough experience, we get it. If this is your first time and you’re nervous, we get that too. Our job is to eliminate the fear — and build something solid, beautiful, and lasting.

We’ve spent years developing the Sallé Custom Experience, and we’d love to share it with you.
